Antonette Loon is a self-taught, interdisciplinary artist from the Philippines. Growing up wanting to become a fashion designer, she developed her passion for art which led her to discover her talent for painting. The canvases, mostly rendered with oils and acrylics, are rife with surrealist figuration, bold colour palettes, and vigorous landscapes. She developed her own technique from a mixture of impressionism, pop art, and history. It all started at the end of 2019 when COVID-19 started to take over the world and quarantines were imposed. During that vacant time, she discovered that she had a talent for painting, in which she continually explored colours, elements, and ideas from her ideal artists.

She takes inspiration from several sources such as vintage fashion and art magazines, photographs, history, art catalogues, works from Fauvism, Expressionism, Neo-expressionism, Surrealism, Impressionism, Pop Art, Oriental and Egyptian art, and Cubism.

Her strongest influences are Henri Matisse, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Norman Rockwell, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Wassily Kandinsky, and Paul Cézanne. She looks at art as a safe space from this busy, rapidly changing, and complicated world.
