ABOUT THE ARTIST
Stéphane Vereecken started his artistic career very young since 1996 in different places with Polaroids and paintings on wood. He did personal and group exhibitions in several Cultural Centers in Brussels, also at the birth of Galerie Damasquine from 1996 to 2001, and after in different artistic places in Belgium and today in other art galleries in Europe and USA . His artistic work has been published in various magazines in Europe and USA.
He construct meaningful images and then move them in the opposite direction.
Through the images of the Rabid Animals series, he explore the relationship between human beings and bestiality.
The drawings on bodies and walls show us a future project of a sublimated and possible life.
Stéphane Vereecken’s works are centered on the human being, the different stories surrounding our species and our goal in a constantly changing world. Both raw and surreal, his works explore alternative forms of existence. In his most recent series, the artist began to draw on his models, as well as the floors and walls of his compositions.
The drawings, fragmented and incomplete, represent an ongoing process, a potential future and an unfinished story to tell, with his drawings on the bodies, walls and floor.
